BUT… I have hunted for new clients, harvested my customer base, and served my community to the best of my ability.

And those are three distinctively different mindsets and skillsets.

In sales, the difference between hunters (those who sign up new customers) and farmers (those who take care of current customers) is widely known and talked about.

If sales managers have a big enough team, they always separate the two because they know they don’t mix.

But when you have your own business, you often have to be both.

AND (yikes!!) you also have to have a waiter’s mindset and provide services to the customers, too.

Now that’s really tough!

It takes a lot of mental and emotional energy to switch between those three.

And most people are not very good at one or two of them, and they find switching from one to the other most difficult.

MY RECOMMENDATION is that you focus on one mindset at a time and take a small break between the times you are a hunter, farmer, or waiter, to allow yourself time to make the switch, if at all possible.

And of course, build your team when you can so you can have people focused on each of the roles.

THE VALUE to you is that you will be a lot more effective, and you won’t scare your customers away by painting a target on their forehead. J

Keep being Awesome!
