I don’t know about you, but I have about 40 plates spinning at once.

And sometimes, my list of things that need to get done seems longer than my day.

When that happens, I remind myself of things that have worked for me in the past to be more productive and remedy the problem:

  • I schedule an appointment with myself to catch up.
  • I eliminate distractions, just as if I was working with a client. I don’t take phone calls, check email, or look to see what’s going on in the world while I’m in productive time
  • I create a check list, picking off three things that need to be done right away, and focus on them
  • I create a productive environment. That could mean opening a window (or closing one), turning on some enlivening music (or eliminating all outside noise), getting myself something snack on, etc. The key is finding what energizes me in the moment.
  • I make a game of it! I choose to see how quickly I can get something done, or how many things I can get done before the top of the hour, or something similar. And I reward myself when I win!
  • I work long hours if I need to. Lord knows I done it before, and I can do it again.

There, that should help.

The value of getting stuff done is not just in having a more productive day, pleasing clients, etc.  – it is also in the feeling of personal empowerment that comes from being in control. It removes a lot of shadow energy, and releases even more productive energy for tomorrow.

So make your list, create your environment, and dive in. You can do it!

And Keep being Awesome!
