And I am certainly that way in some meetings. When it is time to be focused and productive, then it’s “hey, how ya doin?” and we get right to work.

But this morning, I had an opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with a great guy.

There wasn’t a lot on our agenda, so we talked about what we were having for breakfast and various diets we had seen and tried.

Then we started talking about the power of placebos and the power of intention and focus, and religious training we had in our youth and current beliefs… and many other things.

It was great!

45 minutes later, we realized we hadn’t talked about business much, took 10 minutes to deal with that, and wished each other a good day with smiles that were much deeper and truer than ever before.

The meaningful conversation built a great personal relationship and formed a bond that facilitated the business discussion.

And that’s the value of being transparent and open; that’s the value of listening with sincere curiosity and respect – business just goes easier.

Think about that. Next time you have a chance, take time for a meaningful conversation.

And Keep being Awesome!
